Training in key business and professional skills
in today’s competitive environment cannot be ignored
if you want your employees to develop and help drive
the growth of your company.
With the advent of computers in every organization,
E learning will form an important part of how we learn
key business skills in the workplace. In fact, the analyst
house, IDC, predicts that by the end of 2005 business
skills training delivered through e-learning will account
for 26% of all training provided.
Most of today’s quality E learning solutions
offer the opportunity for ‘learning by doing’,
a concept which should form a key part of all training
in soft skills, whether in the classroom or online.
It has been widely researched and is well known that
interaction is an important element to keeping a learner
engaged in training.
One form of interaction is simulation - controlled
and ‘safe’ learning environments where a
learner can interact with real-world events, or ‘learn
by doing’. As learners progress through a course,
they are presented with scenarios and asked to choose
the response they would give. Upon answering these recorded
simulations, the ‘intelligent’ e-learning
course shows them what the real-life outcome would be.
Immediate feedback in simulations motivates the learner
and allows them to enhance competency and, in turn,
transfer the skills taught.
CBT (Computer Based Training) modules are a graphic
presentation of training in various areas like soft
skills training, product training, technical training,
student education, etc.
WBT’s are Training modules based on the Web.
They usually have animation, sound tracks and voice-overs
to make the training messages simpler to understand
and at the same time more interesting.
Testing Modules help keep track of student progress
and form an integral part of education systems.
E Learning systems use either or all the above technologies
and harness their full potentials to deliver cost-effective
and interesting training systems.
